86/100 - A list of thoughts about unicorns…
Since the beginning of spring, my oldest granddaughter has enjoyed picking dandelions and grabbing those that have parachuted to make a wish. Lately, she has been wishing for a unicorn. My instinct is to redirect her to wish for something more realistic so that we can make it happen for her. Instead- I pause and say- “wishes don’t always come true right away babe, so we shall see,”. That’s sits right so she runs off joyfully to the next thing. We saw a stone unicorn at the plant nursery yesterday… it was too heavy to lift but ever so cute and of course she wanted it. She watched both her daddy and I try to lift it (we wanted to see the price) but alas- we could not so there it had to stay. As she prepares nervously for kindergarten, I’ve decided to share with her that unicorns symbolize strength, wildness, innocence, and power… that everything she seeks from it, is already within. As for those wishes/dreams- we can work toward them until she has a room full of unicorns.
Btw- my favorite mythical creature is the mermaid and as one of her guardians- I embrace that role.
